Joanne M. Labiak MSN, CRNP, CWON, CWS an adult nurse practitioner with dual specialty certification in wound management, is the owner of Certified Wound Care Specialists, LLC a private practice providing specialty care and guidance for patients with skin, wound, ostomy, and fistulae challenges in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, on hospice care, and at home. Her nursing and wound care experience of 40 years includes both acute and post-acute care. As the director of wound management services for a 6-campus university health system with 5 wound care centers, a home health agency, rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility, she had responsibility for wound management practices across the acute and post-acute continuum. As the Vice President of Clinical Services/Post-Acute Division for a global medical supply company, she focused on developing holistic evidence based and best practice strategies for skin and wound care as well as educational programs for organizations and clinicians. In addition to her private practice, she is also currently employed as a CRNP for a national hospice corporation and serves as an expert witness in litigation cases related to pressure injuries, wounds, and alterations of skin integrity. Joanne has spoken nationally on topics related to skin, wound, and end of life care.
