Ben Leavell is a licensed nursing home administrator and certified dementia practitioner from West Michigan. Ben has a passion for seniors, but to serve as servant leader to the team to the almost 300 team members that he leads as the Executive Director of Waterford Place (a Sunset Senior Communities Continuing Care Community). Ben has worked for the West Michigan faith based non-profit for over 7 years, first starting as the administrator of their skilled nursing campus.
Ben describes himself as a hands-on leader that has never let the grass grow under his feet. He is motivated to serve his team and to lead beside them to help them better themselves, so they can invest in the residents and families they serve. Ben is passionate about building a culture of high-quality care in culmination with a fun and vibrant workplace.
Ben has been serving seniors for over 15 years and prior to that he was in the restaurant industry, where he learned that customer service and serving others first was one of the keys to doing well and finding purpose.
Ben is currently working on a 39-million-dollar expansion to Waterford Place, that will add 82 new independent living homes, a 150-seat chapel, and a new dining venue. Along with do his day-to-day work as an executive director, Ben enjoys the work he does with SAIDO Learning to help those with dementia reach their full potential.
