Dr. John Kosmeh has a PH.D. in Health Science with an Associates in Fire Science. He has spent most of his life in the medical field and has proven expertise in leading and training emergency response teams. He is adept in providing oversight for all aspects of industrial safety, EHS and emergency response command, including dispatch, resource allocation, and emergency preparedness training. Dr. Kosmeh has conducted several different indirect field training programs for the Department of Homeland Security Center for Domestic Preparedness and FEMA using provided curriculum to emergency responders on how to prepare for and responder to potential threats including but not limited to weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) situations as well as trained Hospital Emergency Response Teams throughout the country.
After spending the last several years in Emergency Departments, he realized a large gap in the care of ALF and SNF residents. Understanding the large cost of unnecessary transports of these residents, he began to study how to improve the quality of care of residents by treating them in their facilities. After researching mobile and Bluetooth technologies, studying the increase in unnecessary transports and discovering a significant trend in Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing residents that were arriving in the emergency department, he developed and implemented a pilot program in which he was able to reduce unnecessary transports by over 87%. drastically reducued 30-day readmissions, and improved the speed and quality of care residents received. Dr Kosmeh is now running this program throughout the United States.
