Dementia care research has advanced significantly in the last several years, but most long term care providers are unaware of the many new tools that could enhance their ability to serve residents better. Outstanding dementia care combines effective interpersonal techniques and environmental modifications with research-based approaches that improve functional abilities. This comprehensive course will help you learn to see the world from the perspective of someone living with dementia and trains you in a set of approaches and techniques to help you communicate effectively with those living with dementia. The workshop considers current research regarding the root causes of many dementia symptoms and uses case studies to explore cutting-edge solutions. The course concludes by highlighting leadership tools to help you take what you learn back to your teams and implement it effectively.
