Quality measures have multiple uses and tracking them can be a challenge. They are used by consumers to rate the quality of a facility. It is used during survey to look for potential troubling areas of care. Having an understanding of the quality measures, how they are calculated, and the programs that use them helps build improvement plans. Additional quality measures are frequently being developed. During the COVID-19 pandemic we saw the incorporation of additional new Quality Measures. This session will review key tips and tricks to manage the CMS QMs, the importance of the numerator and the denominator, as well as why function and coding are important in the QM process.
Learning Objectives:
Identify the role of the Quality Measures in the Nursing Home Quality Initiatives.
Identify the importance of the numerator and denominator.
Explain what the risk adjustments are, and which programs use the Quality Measures.
