As our industry continues to reshape and come back from recent challenges stronger than ever, many senior living communities are looking to integrate new technologies as they realize that what was once a novelty or a “nice to have” has become a necessity. In fact, a recent survey confirms that 60% more senior living leaders believe engagement technology is extremely important to their community compared to before the pandemic. The opportunities to incorporate technology are seemingly endless, and the number of available technology solutions continues to grow.
“Engagement” has also become a buzzword throughout senior living, a term used by vendors and providers to convey different experiences. What is engagement’s role in the senior living experience and how can you create an optimal resident engagement framework? This session will explore what engagement really means, what doing it right looks like, and the impact it can have for residents, their families, and your community. You will learn how technology can be harnessed to encourage engagement that connects residents to staff, to families, and to other residents who share common interests. Join iN2L founder Jack York along with Sheila Johnson from USA Healthcare and Lydia Nguyen, PhD, a neuroscientist specializing in aging to discuss the various engagement technology options for supporting engagement, best practices for integrating technology-enabled engagement programming in your community, and a review of recent research on the outcomes of engagement.
This session is designed for non-technical individuals and will address the needs of every level of care, will a particular emphasis on individuals living with dementia. Multiple technologies, video clips and success stories will be highlighted that showcase the tangible benefits of engagement technology.
