This session will examine the best practices in what to do after a SNF receives a bad survey (IJ or Actual Harm). It will explain the informal and formal appeals process, how to evaluate the chances of success and the best ways to looks at and present evidence to overcome survey deficiencies. It will also show the real impediments to the appeals and provide practical guidance in whether appealing makes sense. It will also review a few real-world examples of successful versus unsuccessful appeals.
