Combating burnout and disengagement in healthcare professions is challenging. The effects of burnout are costly financially and non-financially- resulting in low patient satisfaction ratings, medical errors, poor quality of care, high employee turnover, and decreased productivity. The advancement of digital health provides a unique opportunity to restructure healthcare work to address the lack of autonomy and flexibility that drains many care providers. This session will explore remote-first strategies that have been used by Silicon Valley stalwarts from Intel and Google to fledgling start ups and how they can inform the transformation of healthcare to include successful digital health management. We discuss remote work as an effective solution to burnout, and provide the framework for management of a remote workforce in health care. In depth consideration will be given to the unique aspects of hiring, training and supporting a remote workforce in healthcare.
