The presenters will discuss the healthcare practice problem and evidence-based practice on issues surrounding systemic racism, cultural competence, and unconscious bias. For health care providers to promote consistency and equity in the delivery of health care, the concept of bias among health care providers will be explored. In-depth discussion on how unconscious bias impacts our decision making as healthcare providers and increase our awareness of strategies to manage our bias to improve quality of health care. Various self-assessment and organizational tools will be explored along with providing strategies for organizational change and sustainability in bridging the DEI gap. Further discussion on how effective DEI change can be implemented and achieved on a personal, professional, academic, and organizational level. In addition, the importance of involvement in public health policy will be highlighted to bring upon systemic and societal change.
