Gloria M. Morel Valdés, PsyD. is an early-career Assistant Professor in the Charles G. Matthews Neuropsychology Lab in the Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Morel Valdés earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from La Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Puerto Rico and a Master’s of Science and Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Albizu University-Miami Campus with an emphasis in Clinical Neuropsychology. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Williams S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital and her post-doctoral training in Neuropsychology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. Her training has focused in neuropsychological assessments, psychological treatment, and rehabilitation interventions of individuals with neurological and psychiatric diseases. Dr. Morel Valdés also focuses in advancing services for patients from diverse cultural groups. In her brief time as faculty, she has established the first Multicultural Neuropsychological service in her organization. In terms of research, Dr. Morel Valdés holds an internal research grant through the Centennial Scholars Program which is helping advance her career as an early investigator. Her research interest includes cross-cultural neuropsychology and health care disparities among Native American and Hispanic/Latinx populations with cerebrovascular disease and traumatic brain injuries. She is also particularly interested in the development of neuropsychological norms in Latin-American populations inside and outside the United States.
