Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Practitioner
University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
Houston, Texas, United States
I am a graduate of the University of Rochester School of Nursing BSN program and from the University of Texas Health Science School of Nursing MSN program. Throughout my professional career, I have worked with patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplants and their experiences with treating and assessing for early signs in debilitation, fatigue, and other factors that have led to their deconditioning. Since 2004, I have been working as a nurse practitioner with the department of Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy at MD Anderson Cancer Center. I have been involved in multiple quality improvement projects, participated in standard of care protocol revisions, and co-developed a pilot quality improvement program entitled Motivated and Moving. Since 2016, I have been a part of our departments efforts to create an enhanced recovery program (entitled ER-SCT) for a growing population of patients aged 65 and older receiving and allogeneic stem cell transplant (SCT). Since the fall of 2017, I co-created a pathway to our patients to be evaluated efficiently prior their treatment by a multi-departmental team. I have helped to create a stand alone clinic for ER-SCT and our team recently published our experiences in our first year, and continue to grow the program to include younger patients, Autologous SCT recipients, and CAR T-Cell Recipients.
I do not have any relevant financial / non-financial relationships with any proprietary interests.
