Dr. LaTanya Lofton is a board certified physician in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and she has a subspecialty board certification in spinal cord injury medicine. She is the director of spinal cord injury rehabilitation at Carolinas Rehabilitation in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her areas of interest include the impact of disability on women's health issues, pressure ulcer management, spasticity management, and management of secondary complications associated with spinal cord injury. She received her bachelor's degree at Rust College, and she received her medical degree at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. She completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and she completed her spinal cord injury fellowship at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
She has been instrumental in the development of the women's health clinic for women with disabilities at Carolinas Rehabilitation. She also helped develop the Living Fit and Engaged (LIFE) after Spinal Cord Injury Program which is designed to increase the quality of life of people living with spinal cord injury by encouraging community involvement and physical activity. Dr. Lofton is a member of the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, Association of Academic Physiatrists, and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is also the program director for the spinal cord injury medicine fellowship program at Carolinas Rehabilitation.
