Kelli Chaviano, DO is an assistant professor at University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is specialized in pediatric rehabilitation medicine; her areas of interest include cancer rehabilitation, medical education, osteopathic manipulative medicine, and brain injury. She has created a comprehensive pediatric cancer program called Integrative Cancer Rehabilitation (I CAN) that addresses rehabilitation needs for children across their continuum of care. She also serves nationally as the new chair 2022-2023 of American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine (AACPDM) Education Committee, co-secretary of AAPM&R Cancer Rehabilitation, and a member in the AAPM&R Cancer Rehabilitation Committee Education and Pediatric sub-groups. She was a co-creator for National Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Journal Club sponsored by AAPM&R. She has published in the textbook "Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine: Principles and Practice", articles in AAPM&R Knowledge Now, and in the Journal of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine regarding the effects of fellow education in COVID-19. She is originally from Tallahassee, Florida. She did her undergraduate at Florida State University, medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (GA), residency at Michigan State University, and fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern. She enjoys meditation, backpacking, and playing video games.
