Deborah A. Venesy, MD is a senior Staff Physician in the Center for Spine Health at The Cleveland Clinic. She is also the former Vice Chairman of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Cleveland Clinic where she has worked since 1999. She is board-certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. She just completed a two-year term as President of The Ohio State University College of Medicine Alumni Society in October 2020.




Dr. Venesy has been active in many professional organizations. For the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R), she is currently the President for the Board of Governors which follows a host of other Chairmanship and committee memberships including Bylaws, Quality Practice and Policy, Health Policy and Legislation, Pain/Neuromuscular Council, Medical Practice, and President’s Council of State Societies. For the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM), she has served on the Professional Practice Committee, Education Committee, and currently is a member of the Quality and Patient Safety Committee. She is a member of the Admissions Committee for the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.




Prior to her appointment at The Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Venesy was Medical Director for the Ohio State University Spine Center in Columbus, Ohio where she was an active member of the faculty. She completed her residency in PM&R at Ohio State with Dr. Ernie Johnson and served as Chief Resident. Dr. Venesy just completed a two-year term as President of The Ohio State University College of Medicine Alumni Society in October 2020.
