John R. McGuire, M.D. is a Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He received his MD from the University of Minnesota and completed Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. He also completed a Post-Residency Fellowship in Stroke Rehabilitation from the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. He is Medical Director of the Spasticity Management and Stroke Rehabilitation and has been at MCW/FMLH since 1997. His clinical and research interests include maximizing recovery after a stroke and quantifying motor discoordination after upper motoneuron lesions. He has numerous publications and presentations related to motor control and spasticity management.
