Session Description: Three topics on advanced spinal interventions that will start as an informative didactic and end with a point-counterpoint discussion/debate.

Based on the currently planned sessions at the Academy meeting, I believe there are three advanced topics not addressed. Therefore, this 90 minute session would allow for all Interventional Physiatrists to learn more about advanced topics, understand how these procedures could be incorporated into their practice, appreciate that Physiatrists are an integral part of the Interventional space, and see where the field is going.
Advanced interventions are not suited for everyone. Proper training, education, support, and surgical backup might be required. This can be addressed at the beginning and end of the Session. But not knowing about them, their indications, and the alternatives is also not appropriate.

Learning Objectives:

What are advanced interventional spine and pain procedures and how are they incorporated within a treatment algorithm?
What is spinal stenosis? How is it diagnosed? How is it treated? What role does direct decompression play? What role does indirect decompression play?
How is SIJ dysfunction diagnosed? Treated? What role does a posterior fusion play after failed CMM? Compare lateral vs posterior-lateral vs posterior fusion.
What is endoscopic spine decompression? TF vs IL approach. What is endoscopic RFA?
