This section of the talk is to discuss the research and data around specific topics in women’s health after SCI. The topics are: sexual health, reproductive health, pregnancy, delivery, and breastfeeding, and then menopause. The second part of this lecture will focus on our group project. Our group was able to conduct a focus group among women with spinal cord injuries to assess their concerns with healthcare and their needs. With this information, we were able to create modules to educate healthcare providers on the various topics that were of interest.

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will be able to note and reference the current incidence and prevelance of women with spinal cord injuries.
2. Participants will be able to understand the changes that can occur to sexual function to women after spinal cord injury and the importance of educating their patient’s early on
3. Patients will be able to discuss the hormal changes that can occur in women after spinal cord injury and how that can potentially effect their reproductive health
4. Participants will be able to discuss the risk factors for women with spinal cord injury during pregnancy, delivery, and post-partum
