In this session, we will discuss content presented in PM&R journal's equity special issue. The session will begin with a review of key terms and concepts presented in the introduction to the special issue (please see uploaded slides). We will then engage panelists in several themes around the central takeaway from the special issue--we cannot disentangle health equity efforts for patient populations from diversity/equity/inclusion efforts for the physician workforce. We will engage in critical conversations with panelists and audience members about current trends in teaching, research, and professional development. How can physiatrists serve as leaders in applying a lens of equity to their scholarly work? We will end with solutions and strategies for the way forward as a field. Learners are highly encouraged to attend!
