This talk presents a summary of therapist and patient/caregiver perspectives on dysphagia recovery as related to recovery prognosis and therapy approaches. Illustrative cases are highlighted, laying a groundwork for the subsequent panel discussion/Q&A.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participant will be able to list positive and negative prognostic indicators for dysphagia recovery after a stroke.
Upon completion, participant will be able to demonstrate understanding of the pitfalls in extent stroke/dysphagia recovery literature and diagnostic approaches.
Upon completion, participant will be able to describe the appropriate steps to determining whether to place an NGT vs. PEG tube.
