This lecture will discuss the proper prescription of a training program including variables such as intensity, volume, training frequency, exercise selection, sequence of exercises and rest intervals.

Learning Objectives:

Understand the importance of progressive resistance training in the over 50 population.
Be able to assess and design a basic strength training program for a novice lifter.
Make appropriate exercise recommendations for patients that would like to increase muscle strength.
Make approprite recommendations as to adequate daily protein consumption.
