#AAPMR22 is Back In-Person and Better Than Ever!

We can’t wait to welcome you back in-person! Join us October 20-23 in Baltimore, MD, where we’ll be Leading the Way as physiatry’s premier educational and networking event. We have some exciting things planned for you in 2022. Participate in the best-of-the-best PM&R education, enjoy valuable networking experiences with your peers and discover top-notch physiatric research. You won’t want to miss all the excitement and activities as we meet in-person in Baltimore!

Virtual Attendance Option

For those who can’t travel this year, we also have a virtual attendance option. Our virtual program offers the flexibility to participate online from anywhere, anytime. Virtual attendees will enjoy 24/7 access to all the great education that the Assembly is known for—online from their home or office. Virtual attendees can choose from 20 symposia to participate in real-time as well as all four plenary sessions. All sessions will be available on-demand for one year to all registered attendees, with the opportunity to earn 100+ CME.

Whatever way you choose to participate, #AAPMR22 is a “must-attend” event for every physiatrist.

Plenary Speakers

Opening plenary

AAPM&R President Deborah A. Venesy will officially launch #AAPMR22 and welcome attendees. Then, we’ll hear from Bryon Pitts, multiple Emmy award-winning journalist and news veteran with more than 20 years of experience, who’s known for his thoughtful storytelling, on-the-ground reporting and in-depth interviews. He was named the National Association of Black Journalists Journalist of the Year in 2002. His 2009 memoir, “Step Out on Nothing: How Faith and Family Helped Me Conquer Life’s Challenges," chronicled his journey overcoming illiteracy and a stutter to become a journalist.

Friday plenary

The founder of RARE Coaching & Consulting, Aiko Bethea guides leaders and organizations to remove barriers to inclusion. She serves as an executive coach to leaders and teams of Fortune 100 and global non-profit organizations. She has been recognized by Forbes as one of the top seven anti-racism educators for companies and by Cultureamp as a DEI influencer to follow.

Saturday plenary

Dr. Oluwaferanmi Okanlami is the Director of Student Accessibility and Accommodation Services at the University of Michigan, where he oversees the office of Services for Students with Disabilities, two Testing Accommodation Centers and the Adaptive Sports & Fitness Program. He is also an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and Urology at Michigan Medicine, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Okanlami speaks around the country on topics related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Sunday plenary

We’re putting members front and center at the Assembly. Hear our PhyzTalks finalists share their unique and inspirational stories, and enjoy breakfast before the presentations. This is a great opportunity to hear unique perspectives from your membership community in a fun, relaxed setting, so be sure to stay until Sunday!
