186 - Parental Knowledge and Perception of Oral Conscious Sedation

Purpose:  The purpose of this study is to assess parents’ perceptions about oral conscious sedation for pediatric dental procedures, including the risks, benefits, and alternatives. Additionally, the study will assess parents’ experience with their child’s oral conscious sedation procedure and their satisfaction with the experience.

Methods:  Parents completed a 9-question survey about oral sedation at their child’s post-operative follow-up visit.

Results:  Following data collection, descriptive statistical analysis will be performed to review parental perceptions of and satisfaction with oral sedation.

Conclusions: The results of this study will reveal parents’ self-perceived understanding of oral sedation procedures. Additionally, the study will also reveal parents’ satisfaction with the procedure, as well as what side effects were experienced after the sedation procedure.
