Purpose: The primary objectives of this study are to determine the frequency of use of LSTR treatment by practicing pediatric dentists in the US, and to determine the acceptance of LSTR practice as a progressive treatment modality among the pediatric dental community.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional study design. A survey will be sent out via email to active American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) members. Recruitment into the study will include an electronic description of the study via email. Completion of the survey will establish consent to participate in the study. The survey data collected will then be compiled and submitted to the study biostatistician for analysis. No identifying information will be collected from the participants and the responses to the survey will remain anonymous.
Results: Upon data collection, statistical analysis will determine the frequency of use of LSTR treatment by practicing pediatric dentists in the US. Numbers permitting, the frequency of use of LSTR treatment will be determined by settings, i.e., private practice / hospital /academic clinical. In addition, the extent of acceptance of LSTR practice as a progressive treatment modality among the pediatric dental community will be assessed.
Conclusion: The results should reveal the general acceptance and frequency of use of LSTR among practicing pediatric dentists in the US.
