According to the Guidelines for the Management of Traumatic Dental Injuries published by the International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT), intrusive luxation is an injury in which the tooth is “displaced in an apical direction into the alveolar bone”. As a result, intruded teeth may have favorable or unfavorable outcomes depending on the modality of treatment that is used to reposition the tooth. In this case, gentle and continuous orthodontic forces were applied to a moderately intruded maxillary central incisor to restore normal positioning. At the conclusion of treatment, acceptable functional and esthetic results were obtained, and the tooth maintained vitality and a healthy periodontal ligament throughout the course of treatment.
