Case report: A 16-year-old female presented to the Children’s Dental Health Clinic of the Long Beach Memorial Children’s Hospital with a chief complaint of ‘crooked teeth’. Her medical history was significant for Moebius syndrome with complete paralysis of her left and right sixth cranial nerves, left seventh cranial nerve, and a partial paralysis of her right seventh cranial nerve. The patient was not taking any medications and did not have any drug allergies. Clinical examination revealed inability to abduct her left and right eyes and paralysis of the left muscles of facial expression. She also presented with enamel hypoplasia, proclined maxillary central incisors, increased overjet, constricted maxillary arch, dental crowding, and a class II malocclusion. Radiographic findings revealed impacted third molars. Treatment goals are aimed at improving occlusal relationships with teeth extractions and arch expansion, and managing the patient’s caries risk factors. This case report discusses the clinical findings and orthodontic management of a patient with Moebius syndrome.
