This case report presents a 17-year-old male who presented for an orthodontic evaluation at Long Beach Memorial Children’s Hospital. His medical history is significant for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in remission for six years, chemotherapy (from 10 to 22 months of age), and bone marrow transplant with graft-vs-host disease. Clinical examination revealed a Class III skeletal malocclusion due to maxillary deficiency, severe dental compensations, microdontia of the maxillary lateral incisors, and hypodontia. Radiographic evaluation revealed taurodontism of the mandibular first molars. A multidisciplinary dental treatment plan is indicated for this case, including orthodontics, orthognathic surgery, and restorative treatment. Class III malocclusion will be addressed with maxillary expansion, full fixed appliances, and orthognathic surgery. Restoratively, this case is planned for cosmetic veneers for the maxillary laterals and implants for the mandibular second premolars.
