515 - Is There an Association Between Oral Health and Systemic Disease for Patients Who Present to Interfaith Medical Center?

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine if there is a relationship between the presence of dental disease and systemic disease across the age span of patients presenting to the ED.

 

Methods: An anonymous survey, along with a consent form, will be distributed to patients presenting to the ED at Interfaith Medical Center for dental consultations. The dental resident who is on call will provide the patient in the ED with a consent form and survey which will be answered anonymously regarding demographics, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, health, oral health, and reason for their current visit. The resident will also have one question to answer regarding their assessment of the patient’s oral health status. The resident on call will report the surveys by the end of the week to the researchers. The data will be collected and analyzed.
