Simar grew up in Northern Virginia and completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Anthropology at Duke University. She worked as a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health in the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases division. She received her dental education at Columbia University. After completion of residency, she will be working in private practice. She enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her family.
