Darius Sanford, DMD is a second year pediatric dental resident at NYU-Langone Springfield, MO site. He was born in Decatur, Georgia where he began playing musical instruments at an early age. While in college, he enjoyed volunteering at local youth afterschool programs and implementing interactive nutrition and fitness activities in an effort to combat the youth obesity epidemic in Athens-Clarke County. After attending a medical/dental summer internship at the Yale School of Medicine, Darius knew he wanted to become a pediatric dentist and soon was accepted to the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He continued his passion for service while in dental school by joining the United States Army Reserve and founding a service program entitled ‘Shop with a Dentist’, where dental students raise money to buy holiday presents for local, underprivileged children. In addition to dentistry, Darius enjoys an active lifestyle including weightlifting, cycling, tennis, and cooking. He looks forward to starting his career as a pediatric dentist back in his hometown of Decatur, Georgia.
