Purpose: The purpose of the study is to evaluate the relationship between caries and oral health fatalism beliefs among parents of children seeking dental care at a children’s hospital dental clinic, dental surgery center, and four private practices.
Methods: A 33-item questionnaire was given to the primary caregivers of children presenting for dental care in six locations. Participants were queried about their gender, ethnicity, and education, number of children, oral health knowledge and beliefs, and personal oral health status including that of their child. To indicate their fatalistic views, primary caregivers responded to questions that included the statement “Most children eventually develop dental cavities.” Data collection is incomplete and is yet to be analyzed.
Results: Results Pending.
Conclusions: Pending.
