502 - Exploring the Role of Teledentistry in Providing Dental Care, Milaeh R, Shanmugham J, Zletni A, Zavras A, (Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Boston, MA)

Purpose: The overall aim of this project is to explore factors associated with diagnostic accuracy during televisits compared to in-clinic visits. 

Methods: This study is a retrospective chart review of patients who completed televistis during the COVID-19 pandemic and among those with subsequent in-clinic visits between March 1st, 2020, and December 31st, 2021, at the Boston Medical Center (BMC). Patient information will be obtained from EPIC, the electronic patient record system. These patients completed televisits in both the department of pediatric dentistry and oral and maxillofacial surgery at BMC. The level of diagnostic accuracy between the televisit and in-clinic visit will be compared and factors associated with diagnostic accuracy such as department, chief complaint and patient age group ( < 7 years, 7-12 years, 12-21 years, >21 years) will be considered. All statistical analysis will be conducted using SPSS statistical software. 

Results: Previous results on a total of 323 patients found the accuracy of diagnosis to be 72% when comparing the diagnosis made during the televisits to the in-clinic diagnosis. Further in depth analysis will be conducted and the results will presented in this report.
