After graduating from the University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry in 1995, Dr. Sawatari joined the Public Health Service/Indian Health Service on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. He worked as a general dentist for five years, receiving numerous commendations and awards, and was promoted to Lieutenant Commander. He then completed his postdoctoral residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Oral and Maxillofacial Residency program. After completing the residency, he worked in private offices for two years before he was recruited to return as faculty at the Miami program. Dr. Sawatari is currently a Professor and is the Director of Residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program.
