Provision of safe anesthesia in the office setting requires an ongoing quality improvement involving every member of the team. OMSs provide a great service to patients by administering safe and effective anesthesia in the office setting. Great emphasis is placed on educating the team, preparing offices and using contemporary approaches to administration of office-based anesthesia. Some may consider the inclusion of helpful technologies such as infusion pump and BIS monitoring as impractical or unnecessary. The goal of this presentation is to provide the OMS team with practical information about the use of infusion pump and BIS monitoring, with a demonstration how such technologies can be easily integrated into day-do-day practice in an effort to improve patient care.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
Describe the process to include infusion pump in office anesthesia practice.
Discuss the utility of BIS monitoring as part of the peri- and post-operative patient monitoring strategies.
Describe the improvements in outcomes by inclusion of infusion pump and/or BIS monitoring in office anesthesia practice.
