Program Abstract: Since 1998, the National Science Foundation's Historically Black Colleges and Universities Undergraduate Program (HBCU-UP) has provided awards to strengthen STEM undergraduate education and research at HBCUs. HBCU-UP supports projects that develop, implement, and study innovative approaches for making enhancements in the preparation and success of HBCU undergraduate students, thereby bolstering their success in STEM graduate programs and/or workforce. The evidence-based models that have been developed and tested in the HBCU community may inform broadening participation in STEM efforts across institutions of higher education.
