Specialty and research field of interest: Dr. Metz specializes in the use of radiation for the treatment of gastrointestinal malignancies. His research interests include the treatment of GI malignancies in the multidisciplinary setting, as well as the utilization of complementary and alternative medications by cancer patients.
Dr. Metz has led the development of the Roberts Proton Therapy Center, the largest proton center in the world that opened in 2010. He also pioneered the use of online cancer survivorship care plans and web-based cancer education and information. Dr. Metz is nationally recognized as the longtime Editor-in-Chief and now Executive Director of OncoLink, named as one of the Top 10 medical websites in the world by the National Library of Medicine.
