When the American Dental Trade Association was formed in 1881, Myron Patterson was a charter member and very active within the organization. His son, John, got his degree in Dentistry from the University of Minnesota, becoming Patterson president in 1938 and elected as the ADTA president in 1943. Myron's grandson, Bill, took over as Patterson president in 1949 and was elected as VP of the ADTA in the same year. Three years later, Bill was elected president of the ADTA, traveling 123,000 miles a year during his tenure. A common philosophy of the three generations of Patterson leadership was a strong belief in honest business ethics. Their actions were directed to the long term effect on the business and the dental industry itself. It was in this light that Myron Patterson saw the need for a governing body to oversee the development of the dental industry. The American Dental Trade Association is now the Dental Trade Alliance and we're thrilled to still be involved with such an important organization over 140 years after its founding with Patterson Dental's president, Tim Rogan.
