Presentation Description: The challenge with deploying digital solutions for wind O&M optimization is that the number of use cases and applications can be overwhelming. This makes it difficult to understand exactly how deployment supports a desired outcome. For example, visualization and dash-boarding software can provide tons of maintenance and operational data in an attractive, digitized way, but if it isn’t contextualized or structured in an actionable way, how is it supporting better decision-making? Using digital solutions without clearly defining a targeted outcome can result in lost time and money. This presentation aims to tackle this challenge by looking at how digital solution development can be focused to enable optimized O&M decision-making for asset owners who have differing operational strategies. By linking digital solutions to a wind farm’s operational strategy, solutions can be deployed with targeted specifications that consider 1) the end user, 2) actionable insights, 3) the right digital technology (e.g. machine learning, digital twinning, natural language processing).
Digital use cases are plentiful – by focusing on the operational strategy that best fits their needs, asset owners can prioritize which digital solutions can help them make the best decisions.
Learning Objectives:
Identify which digital use cases tie directly to achieving their operational strategy(ies).
Understand what roles in their O&M organization can benefit from digital solution deployment and how it will enable better decision making.
Be better able to have targeted conversations with their digital / service providers to ensure they’re working with partners with the right capabilities for their unique business.
