Presentation Description: Can you think of a world without standards and how that would look? Among other things, standards help ensure that a light bulb fits a socket, plugs for electrical appliances fit outlets, workplaces and public buildings are safer from collapse, fire, and explosion. As such, public safety communications also has a multitude of standards that range from Operational, Technical, and Training topics. This panel discussion will discuss how technology can use standards in day-to-day use.

Learning Objectives:

Learn about what an ANSI standard is, why it is important, and how to get involved with developing ANSI accredited standards.
Discuss how ECC leaders can employ ANSI standards in their day-to-day operations, mitigation and preparation planning, technology requirements, and training requirements.
Identify various areas in which standards can benefit local ECCs.
