Senior Veterinary Technician-Cardiology Southwest Florida Veterinary Specialists Naples, FL, United States
This interactive session will take the participant through the steps of interpreting an electrocardiogram. It will begin with some common arrhythmias and progress to more difficult, less straight forward arrhythmias, including some patients with pacemaker implantation. The participant will have the opportunity to perform standard measurements of the ECG waveforms, as well as calculate the Mean Electrical Axis on a packet of electrocardiograms. This session will be challenging, and a basic understanding of electrocardiographic interpretation is recommended.
Learning Objectives:
the participant will be able to interpret normal and abnormal electrocardiograms using a system rather than simple pattern recognition
the participant will be able to practice how to measure ECG waveforms
the participant will be able to describe how to calculate Mean Electrical Axis on sample electrocardiograms
the participant will be able to understand how a 10 lead electrocardiogram can be used to differentiate ventricular arrhythmias from supraventricular arrhythmias
