Dentists and their staff are all mandatory reporters of child abuse and neglect. We all have treated patients that were or are using meth. This panel discussion presents an opportunity to have one-to-one discussions with a dentist who treats victims of Methamphetamine abuse, a former meth addict who lost her children to foster care due to drug use, and a Child Protective Services therapist who has to make the tough decisions on removing children from bad situations.

Learning Objectives:

Understand the challenges a dentist faces when treating former or current Methamphetamine patients
Describe how meth is made, distributed, and used, and its effects on the mouth, brain, and body
Understand ACES in society and the trauma a mother experiences when CPS removes children from her home
