Understanding the perspective of parents and caregivers of individuals with autism when providing dental care can improve the overall clinical outcomes. Developing a mutual respect and appropriate rapport with both the patient and their caregivers will ease tensions and allow for open and honest discussion surrounding the patient’s oral health needs, both in the dental office and in their home. Improving these relationships could likely be the key to unlocking lifelong dental health.
