Director, Community Partnerships
Lavannya Pulluveetil Barrera serves as the Director of Community Partnerships at Vote Solar. In her role, she leads the organization’s evolution to becoming equitable partners with frontline, low-wealth, and communities of color by creating and developing Vote Solar’s partnership program elements. She leads the planning and execution of workshops on a range of energy topics to support partners, build strong coalitions, and engage folks invested in creating a just energy system that benefits everyone. She is also a leader in the organization’s work to build an inclusive culture and bring an equity lens to all that Vote Solar does.
Prior to joining Vote Solar, Lavannya was a Tom Graff Diversity Fellow with the Environmental Defense Fund based in Chicago where she supported the equitable implementation of clean energy legislation and the design of energy efficiency programs for low-income and hard to reach customers. In 2019, she was honored by Midwest Energy News’s 40 Under 40 recognition.
Lavannya believes that the most transformative solutions to our climate crisis will come from those most impacted and marginalized and makes every effort to center those voices in her work.
