The rapid buildout of renewable hydrogen infrastructure is urgently needed to reduce emissions, electrify our transportation system and decarbonize our grids. While electrolysis powered by renewable energy is an important technology for producing renewable hydrogen, it won’t be enough to produce the volumes of clean hydrogen we need to replace diesel and other fossil fuels in global vehicle fleets and power generators. New circular economy technology that converts waste into clean hydrogen can and should be used to scale up renewable hydrogen supply, while providing the added benefit of sustainable waste disposal for cities and organizations.
