Dr. Steven Gitarts is a second-year physiatry resident at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, who believes that treating a patient’s illness is essential but improving a patient’s function leads to a complete recovery. He has an interest in pursuing sports medicine to supplement his physiatry training. During the COVID pandemic, he was at the epicenter in Queens, NY, and published a study on heparin drip decreasing thrombotic events in COVID patients. He is published in Pharmacology and The Knee Journal and is currently a member of the NYSPMR society. He graduated cum laude from the American University of Antigua and received his Bachelor of Science in biology from Stony Brook University.
