President Toronto Public Library Workers Union - Local 4948 Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Libraries have opened amidst a continuing pandemic, and their frontline workers are faced with a whole new set of health and safety challenges. Over the month of October, the union of the largest public library system in the country surveyed its members, asking them through a series of open and closed questions, about their experiences through the first couple of months of reopening. The purpose of this session is to present the results of that research --in combination with findings from 3 other public library locals --and suggest recommendations for health and safety policy development in partnership with library management. We hope to generate discussion among participants regarding this under-researched area where the ground continues to shift. A comprehensive literature review and a curated list of resources will also be provided.
