Change in Process: Exploring Student Identity and Library Collection Data to Build Literacy, Leadership, and Community in the School Learning Commons

This session overviews the use of student and library data to diversify children’s literature in a public school. Specific initiatives include expanding the representation of authors of colour, Indigenous cultures, and the LGBTQ+ community, as well as implementing professional learning opportunities for educators to support this work. Learn how the developments of a student leadership team and parent collaborative launched community events in the learning commons to further engage in literacy at a school-wide level.
