Bites of Boston 6: Boston City Hall Plaza Redevelopment
Please note: This session does not qualify for AICP Certification Maintenance (CM).
Boston City Hall Plaza is in the middle of transforming from its 1950’s brutalist architectural style to a place that will be more welcoming and accommodating for people and nature. Sasaki, an interdisciplinary architecture, planning, landscape, and design firm has re-designed this space with sustainable redevelopment principles in mind to transform this barren hardscape into an accessible and welcoming space. This short video highlights some of the key features of the new design that is currently under construction, including attributes that touch on many of the NPC 21 conference themes (resilience, climate change, equity, technology, emerging transportation, and innovative practice). The project incorporates green infrastructure, community space, and a more “people-oriented” design.
