I began my career in education as a special education teacher for 15 years, serving both high school and middle school students with challenging behaviors. I spent the next 5 years in special education administration focusing on off-site programming and work experience. Currently, I am a special education consultant with Grant Wood Area Education Agency in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It was here that I learned about CISM and joined the team to respond critical incidents within schools.
