Dr Marion McNaught MBChB, CCISM, ATLS instructor, ALS instructor
NHS Scotland, PSA-Ltd, CISM Alliance
I have worked in NHS Scotland for 40 years in a variety of roles. I was a GP(family doctor) in a semi-rural area for 12 years during which time I also provided pre-hospital immediate care at a time when our ambulance service was staffed by technicians rather than paramedics. I then undertook 18 months anaesthetic/critical care training before returning to Emergency Medicine as a senior staff member. My other roles include Educational Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, Simulation Educator, BMA Union Representative, Medical Peer Supporter.
Throughout my career I have assisted and supported patients, families and colleagues in crisis. I became involved in Medical Peer support in a formal capacity in 2016.
I stepped back from full-time clinical work in 2020, but continue to provide locum sessions in the ED. I work alongside Angela Lewis, PSA-Ltd to instruct and facilitate on CISM courses for NHS/Social Care staff/ NGOs and public.
I believe my breadth of medical experience, coupled with ICISF training provides a firm foundation for supporting individuals and groups in Critical Incident Stress Management.
