Presentation Details: This presentation aims to explain how the skyguide CISM Team had to handle two flight crashes the same day, where employees from different locations knew some of the deceased passengers (skyguide operates in fourteen locations in Switzerland). Moreover, many CISM Peers were very much impacted, as one or our direct colleague and his wife died in the crash of a the Junkers JU-52 "Iron Annie" in the Bündnerland. Therefore, we had to function with a reduced team, which made the things even more challenging. This colleague was well known from many people in the company, as he had worked in different units as an Air Traffic Controller in Zurich. The second crash concerned a family, of which the pilot was the chief pilot of the only Swiss company which develops, produces and sells aircraft to customers around the world. He was flying a Socata TB-10 type aircraft and was leaving on holidays with his wife, daughter and son. The company this pilot was working for, is located on a small aerodrome where the tower controllers are skyguide Air Traffic Controllers. Those people work together on a daily basis (they test their airplanes there) and know each other well. Therefore all Air Traffic Controllers from that unit were very much impacted by the death of this family.
